How do you manage to create so many figures so quickly?
I started a Huorn some time ago now and am struggling to find a good way to sculpt bark, may I ask how you did yours?

I think it just seems like I've been sculpting quickly because the One Ring has been down so I've not been able to update this thread. But then I have had to increase the amount of time I spend sculpting now because of outstanding commissions that I want to clear in order to concentrate on new releases for the website.

As for bark, each is different. Get some photos from Google images for reference. A good generic way is deep vertical running lines interspaced with lots of shallow vertical lines. Then put random short horizontal lines all over what you have just done. Obviously when I say vertical I don't mean ruler straight, add some slight direction change as you cut the lines downwards

Thank you very much, I will follow your advise! Yeah, it could seem more because the site has been down, but if I compare the number of miniatures I have sculpted over the past year to how many you have created, you seem to be much more efficient. (Although I am the German... )

Cheers,
Bennet

Great to see a new addition to Fangorn's angry host; looks to be a hefty chunk of metal when cast!

Awesome stuff! Have you ever thought about filling in the gaps that GW never did such as making Dain, Catatrolls, Goatriders, and Dwarf chariots?

The fir tree giant is about 85% done now. I keep adding greenstuff to him if I get any left over from other sculpting work.

Epic conversions and sculpts as always. :yay: It never ceases to amaze me what you can do with green stuff. I only wish I was the one painting all these beauties.

Ok next up is a commissioned sculpt for Rob Hawkesworth. He wanted Thorongil so here is the foot version I did for him .....

Still the mounted version to do but I'm quite pleased with this as it has been a couple of years since I last did a scratch sculpt (man-size) and i was worried I may be out of practice.

A piece of high quality indeed, I realize that I have to do way with the sculptures miniatures whenever I see such precision work. Congratulations Dave.

What's the status of this piece, Dave? Is it a one-off commission? One to cast up and sell?
