@gothmog: I mostly used Simmuskhan's balrog guide on his blog but with a few tweaks 8)

@southy: lol thanks mate! :) Should be fun to game with... 8)

@mastermanje: ha ha! Thanks mate :-D I wonder if he ever toasted marshmalows on himself?

@crucium giger: Thank you! That was the plan :D

The flame stuff is excellent but what I like the most is the black. It really looks like charred demonic flesh and adds a lot to the overall effect of the fiery aspect of the balrog.

I was trying to place the key differences and that nailed one of them. The other is the fire in the wings. It looks "cooler" than the core body flame and I think that's absolutely appropriate and really helps sell the look. One of the best Balrogs I've seen around here, and there have been some real good ones.

Fantastic Balrog. You've got to be brave to try the white hot part of the model and you've pulled it off. I also like the glow effect on the base.

Very nice painting on the Dwarves, especially Oin and Ori, Oin's face is exceptional. Good stuff on the Balrog too, proper heat emanation from white. excellent painting Sid.

@werner: Thanks! the base colour was knarloc green and I worked up from there. I'll go into more details in the article

What article, can you then also explain the technique?

 I was a bit vague wasn't I lol... I was refering to the article I'm working on about painting Ori.
The technique is just highlighting (but not drybrushing, I find that tooo messy). Basicly you start off with a base colour and then paint the parts that stick out the most in successively lighter colours.

Here's what I did IIRC:
1. knarloc green
2. knarloc green + black + water 1:1:2 (wash)
3. knarloc green
4. knarloc green + bleached bone 2:1
5. knarloc green+ bleached bone 1:1
6. knarloc green+ bleached bone 1:2

:)

Thanks!

Great paintjob on the balrog!

Nice painting, like the little detail like the cut on his leg, and the spider's eyes :D. As for the logo you should add a Sloth :D

Wow Sid! Excellent painting, the face, the gloves and the coat are amazingly good, but I like the whole thing very much ;) It's amazing how fast you improve your skills from one mini to the next! Maybe you good add some very fine wood grain to the staff but it's very godd like this!
