Post subject:  What is the most you have ever paid for a blister?
After seeing several posts about the current cost of miniatures still in GW stock and also the outlandish prices of OOP figures on ebay, I was wondering what the most someone has ever paid for a single blister?

For me, I paid $35 USD for an Invisible Frodo blister on ebay. Now this was several years ago, and I am now contemplating a Buy it Now for a OOP two figure metal command blister at $40 USD.

Anyone pay more than 45 USD or 25 GBP for a metal blister (1-3 figures)? I'm excluding finecast as the resin foot and mounted blisters are currently retail at $40 USD (i.e. Elrond and Azog).

the most I have paid is 15.00$ way back before things were all OOP. I did see six blisters of mahud blowpipe guys go for 180.00$ which is crazy because the guy at my store has them for 8.00$ :rofl:

£44 for me, fairly recently for a brand new Gandalf foot and mounted (including postage). It was certainly a little extravagant but I really wanted the figure and that's just what he goes for these days.

I'm sure others have paid far more though, I reckon the Mauhur's Command blister is one of the dependable rarities that consistently generates the most obscene prices.

Gandalf The Grey ft & mtd, Isildur ft & mtd, Mahud King ft & mtd, Mauhurs Marauders Command and Kardush The Firecaller all sold for over £40 when I put them on Ebay in May.

$50 USD the first day I wore my new shoes to my job. Oh wait wrong kind of blister lol.

The most I've paid for a LOTR blister was the Mahud King ft and mounted for right around $40 when it was all said and done

I got 2 NIB sets of those for £25 combined :lol:

Most I have spent on a single model...probably the £37 worth of models for a Gandalf the grey mtd. Been quite lucky in that regard, managed to pick up most things before they went oop.

£132 order placed with an online retailer who shut down and kept my cash. It was not for a single blister but it demonstrates how careful one needs to be.

ouch that was awful :( much better to get your car and drive to a far-away-god-forsaken-dusty-with spiders store in that case

Anyway my highest ever purchase was 300£ but for over 20 blisters +4 big box sets

Believe it or not, Im a really sneaky scourer of ebay.

One night I checked and newly listed I got an in blister brand New Mahud King on Foot and Mounted for $25 USD. That was after it was OOP but before everyone started paying in blood for them.

Suprising right? Either that, or a hobbit 'Bolg' I paid $25 for. I generally never buy brand new blisters I trade or look on ebay.

Most I have ever spent on a single purchase though somewhere around $190-$200. But I got a ton of boxes including Guardians and Scouring of the shire both, a Balrog, and some other stuff. Also 190 for a huge set of Elves at one point. But I got all the Hobbit heros and some captains, a ton of wood elves a bunch of metal high elves, knights of rivendell, etc.

Unfortunately I am quiet tight on cash at present, though I did spend £50 on the trolls, though that is the standard price.
I have too much of a backlog to justify much spending.

Mahurs Marauders Command for $32.00 in an auction
but I've spend alot on large lots where I've broken even or made a profit reselling the figures I already have, I've really advanced my collection with that method

I have kept up for them most part with collecting since TTT came out...so I got most of my stuff before any price hikes. And since then I have still kept up so I have not had to pay more that MSRP on anything. But cheapest (aside from gifts) was to get a free blister of Faramir Rangers and I picked up a blister of Moria Goblin Prowlers for $0.99 at a thrift store. I also got my Minas Tirith Wall set for $37 brand new when they came out due to a mistake in pricing (and I told the guy his mistake and was willing to pay the full price be he gave it to me at the cheap price)... so I have actually been very lucky to come into this hobby at the right time, before I had a kid ($$$) and still lucked upon many bargains... and I have no idea how much I got when two stores had Going out of Business sales... I think I cleaned them out at 30-50% off. So for me nothing expensive accept what GW charges.

I have never bought a non produced model, they are cool, but to me they are not necessary and I can admire them in other collectors displays without any trace of jealousy or need to acquire them, I think I burned that part of my brain back when I was collecting Star Wars figures so now that stuff doesn't even make me flinch. I won't dare say how much I have dropped on Star Wars stuff in one place though, Yikes.

I only buy bargains on eBay. I have it set to newly listed and buy it now. Trolls new in box £25

Watcher in water new in box £28

Finecast fellowship new I'm box £7

There's a lot of people who list it unaware of value ;)

My sympathies.

I've made 3 or 4 times a big order straight from GW with blisters that would never come to Hellas otherwise, but I've tried to keep away from, beyond reason, overpriced blisters and boxes.
I don't even get those people who buy stuff and store them away unopened just to resell them 7-8 years later.
Everything I buy, is driven by my will/need to have it painted or play with (rare occasion, unfortunately).
On the other hand, I try to find low-priced gems on eBay.

I think about 30 GBP for a Mahud king but most of that was shipping. He went oop here in the UK so I ordered him from GW Australia.

I only go on ebay for bargains. I won't pay overs.

$40 US for Minas Tirith Gandalf mounted (metal). I love the pose more than the TT version plus I had to get it in metal.

...$200 US for brand new Defenders of Rohan...

Most I paid for the blister was indeed the full GW price too, 37 euro for the latest Thranduil Legolas ft and mt editions.

Most I paid for a box has been 75 euro for Guardians of the Shire. Ouch!

And paid a few times around that price too for decent (or not so decent, but I wanted to strip them anyways) painted Elven armies with a lot of heroes and metal models. Those I consider rather on the good buy/bargin side though :-D

though not a blister most I have ever spent on a model was £55 on my metal cave drake couple o months back
