First off, I would like to apologise, as I already started a thread on a possible army of the ToS, but since it wasn't the points I thought it would be I had to have a bit of a re-think.

I found some of my old dwarves and gondor, and thought it may be good fun to use them in a list, and this is one, I believe, is probably the most competitive;

Warband 1: Balin (edit, he has Durin's Axe too)
12 Khazad Guard

Warband 2: Ghan-buri-ghan
12 Woses

Warband 3: Beregond with heavy armour
12 GotFC with shield

Warband 4: Damrod
1 GotFC with shield
6 Citadel Guard with Longbow

Totals: 47 models, 8 might, 12 blowpipes, 6 longbows and a bow,D7 frontline and mostly F4 with spear support. Monsters would be the army's main concern, but otherwise I feel it is quite a solid force. Thoughts?

It does look good. Most scenarios I feel would be within this list's capabilities. Lords of battle might be tough and as you said Monsters would have a field day with this list but to stop that would require major changes that probably aren't worth it

It looks tough but you are going to struggle on the new DoS scenarios. They require mobility and you have none. You'll do alright on the 'old scenarios' and you have plenty of killing power.

Indeed monsters are the main concern. But i dont think at 600 pts gonna be many of em. Also try to kill enemy's spellcasters fast ;)

You might also struggle against elves because your higher fight counts for nothing

Not honestly sure why everyone seems to think monsters are a particularly big issue for this force. Most monsters are S6 meaning they'll need 5s to wound your frontline and you've got a lot of warriors with Bodyguard that will make it easier to charge them. 8 Might's pretty good for 600 so you should be able to Heroic Strike against them and you've got your Khazads to piercing strike. If anything I'd say this force is pretty good against monsters.

Southy's right, your biggest issue for TOS will be lack of mobility in the DOS scenarios.

^exsctly what I was gonna say. Charge with a few units heroic strike and very good chance of taking a monster down.

Thank you for the replies!

Thinking about it, you are right. With the chance for a few longbow shots to do some damage, in combination with an enormous number of axes, I shouldn't have too many issues, assuming that I have a numerical advantage.

Elfgeneral: with an abundance of D7 troops, the damage I will take from even elf bows is limited, with them scoring one kill per nine shots. In a 600 point match, I feel that elves will struggle to field more than 3 full warbands, unless going for some serious budget heroes and basic wood elves. Given that in normal scenarios we will start almost in combat, they will struggle to take me down, whereas Khazads will be RIPPING through elves.

DG and LotBR: I haven't bought the book yet, and while I don't want to get the scenarios off you for free, are they so biased towards manoeuvrability that a small amount of cavalry is entirely necessary?

Yes. If you don't have cav for seize the prize and your enemy does, you lose. No two ways about it. Game will be over in 15 minutes.
