See you all at about 8.45pm tonight!

If you don't mind waiting until I've got rid of all my clients, then I'll come out and let you all in.

Should be a great night fellas!

Think for certain the list is
Thermo (me)
Hashut (Pete)
Ste
Knighty

Sam Lord is trying to make it, not sure about Gothmog. Ste's lad is doing exams. I have a mate who has bought the EFGT set and might have his goblins glued and primed for tonight but not certain.

Likely format is either 2 games of 500pts vs 500pts or a doubles format, but we can see when we get there.

What's everyone bringing? I'll try bring Rohan and Grey Company and then choose tonight...

 Why don't you try 1/2 Rohan and 1/2 Grey Company next battle?
Might be interesting.

Maybe you should experience a "normal" army, ie one with 1/3 bows and hand to hand combat troops.
Although Rohan and the Grey Company are very effective because of shooting, sometimes it is more fun to use an army that is more focused on hand to hand combat as there is more action for you and you can see which you like best?

Just a suggestion :-D

Had an absolute blast. Turns out, it was the longest game KnightyKnight and Thermo have ever had :P not even in my top 10 for length :D

Battle report will be more of a summary, some random pictures and hazy recollections of interesting events.

An idea might be for Thermo: try your allied list, then the week after - try switching armies with someone :P

Aye, I attribute these long games to the tactics required to attempt to get a victory with the troops at hand!

I'm quite keen on an Erebor list at some point and might have even gone for them first if I'd got into the hobby s couple of months later, after the Hobbit.

Not decided on next week yet but will get thinking!

As you said Hashut, absolute blast :)

if you want to test Erebor out, feel free to borrow some dwarfs. if your opponent's okay with it as well (which I assume is the case), you can even use Erebor profiles...

Thanks Hashut! Think I might treat myself to a 500pt erebor list and the eagle box once everything I have is painted!!

Must be prudent in the meantime!

Ste, are you going to the Stockport event in April? Will you need to practice the scenarios (storm the camp, to the death and whatever the other is??)

Maximum 500pts per side next time me'thinks!

Some quick rule discoveries on things that we overlooked in the last game!

Throwing spears are range 8 but throwing weapons (ref Balin and iron guards) are range 6.

Expert rider should have allowed me to re-roll failed thrown rider tests :)

All part of the learning curve!!

I THOUGHT throwing weapons (E.G. my axes) were 6". Fortunately, mor eoften than not, they were being thrown at that range.

Did someone not say that they re-rolled tests? Might have only been jump/leap/swim though that was said. I play infantry-only, I don't need to know that stuff ;P

Isn't that what the rulebook is for? Checking stuff you're not sure about?

Just retrospective oversights, none of us noticed the above during the games :) all learning!

SouthernDunedain: My opponents seemed pretty certain and had been reading the books. I've not got the Hobbit rulebook yet and sometimes get confused with throwing weapons because of Fantasy rules, so deferred to them.

Not that it was a problem anyway! Ultimately, we're having a laugh playing a game we enjoy and all picking up rules on the way. More one for the future than retrospectively!

Although imagine the controversy if king of the dead had met an untimely end with an axe in his skull thrown from 8"! Scandalous!! ;) haha
