Hi people, this is my first post on these forums but I rather recently discovered the LotR range of minis and got it into my head that I would like to collect some of it. Was looking at the minis still available at the GW site and in most cases it's clear what material they're in: metal or resin/finecast. However, for quite a few the material isn't specified, and I was wondering if anyone here knew what was up with that. Basically, I'm thinking of purchasing, but only if they're in metal. Specifically, these were the ones I was looking at:

* Hill Troll Chieftain Buhrdur
* Barrow Wights
* Dead March Spectres
* Sauron the Necromancer
* Elladan foot and mounted
* Murin and Drar
* Wood Elf Sentinels
* Wood Elf Command
* Elf Command (the high elves)
* Rohan Outriders
* Cirion and Madriel
* Osgiliath Veterans
* Rohan Loyal Guard (on foot)

Anyone know if I'd get these in metal or finecast if I ordered them direct from GW?

If it doesn't say, they're metal

No idea about Buhrdur, but pretty certain all the others are metal.

EDIT: Also, welcome. =)

Buhrdur is definitely metal; At least he was about 6 months ago.
All of the resin minis say either finecast or resin or whatever on them and all the plastics say multi-part plastic kit or something similar, and the rest are old lotr metals that they probably just haven't bothered to change the descriptions of since everything was metal.

Thanks a lot guys, that's very helpful! I was told on another forum that Sauron the Necromancer was finecast, but the consensus here seems to be he's still metal then?

Nah, too easy, I rely only on second hand information. :) To be honest... I never used their customer service... and didn't even think about it. :oops: Also, I've been meaning to register on these forums (been lurking for a while), so just making conversation I guess. :)

If he was metal then, he certainly still is now - they haven't switched anything to resin in a good while now (and thank the Valar for that).

Trodax nothing wrong with that ! Guess that's what we're here for !

GW customer services have always been real helpful when I have called them on a number of occasions, but walk into a shop and that's another matter... !

Once their awesome shop displays have enticed you into their spiders lair, they are very friendly and I am generally approached within seconds, but talk about hardcore sales push ! Given that I probably have a bigger lead backlog than they have figures in the shop, and all I usually want is paint and a browse :oops:

So in some respects, the fancy new warhammer store at the top of Tottenham Crt Road shares a number of characteristics with the Church of Scientology at the other end. If you have walked that road then you will know exactly what I mean !!!!!
