Were they still men at that point or already ringwraiths? Why didn't they come to Sauron's aid during the battle of the last alliance? Just random thoughts.

Were they still men at that point or already ringwraiths? Why didn't they come to Sauron's aid during the battle of the last alliance? Just random thoughts.

I am pretty sure they were already wraiths at that point but I do not have the exact date they first appeared. The were probably getting flogged by the elves from Lindon or were top general type things in other areas. Plus, I do not think that Sauron reckoned he would need their help since him getting beaten so unlikely. |

They first appeared in 2251 of the Second Age, nearly 1200 years before Sauron fell. I'd imagine they were marshaling the Orcs during the siege of Barad-dur, but also with so many powerful Elves and Numenoreans present they were likely outmatched in combat and their power of terror would have been less potent than in later ages. |
