Im really into dwarven lore but there is one thing that i cant find out.
What use does the 21st hall(the large one with the pillars) have, is
it a giant mess hall for all the miners. Or a large square, although i dont
think any city needs a square of a square kilometer. There were some
tables visible in the films but they didnt give any reeal purpose away.
Anyone have more info on this?

Martijn

I think it was simply a sort of highway or road connecting various regions together.

In LOTRO there are various rooms, such as the Chamber of Mazarbul that connect to the 21st Hall. So it was simply that, a Hall.

So it is just a large square, somewhat for showing off how great builders they are I think then. And for lotro, I havent been there yet still not there with the epic quest line.

Could have been a parade ground. In essence it's a crossroads between a lot of different tunnels in Moria, connecting them all. Think of major cross in a road. Towns grow along them because there's a lot of traffic. Such a prosperous race as Durin's Line would have known this and there are numerous uses a large semi-open space could have been used for, not least to show off.
