Anyone find it really funny that Aragorn ransacks Boromir's corpse at the end of Fellowship, nicking those swanky bracers.

Luckily he never met Denethor because Denethor would've been [word deleted].

I just find it really funny for some reason, like he's in an RPG and has salvaged Boromir's best gear "great I'm so glad he's dead I've wanted those +2 bracers all along.".

Reminds me of this so much:

Why do you recoil I am no thief.

Aragorn doesn't just decide to steal Boromir's armour, he takes them to remember and to honour his fallen companion, at least that is the intention I believe was meant, especially as it shows him tightening them shortly after Bormoir has been sent down the river.

I get what you mean though, I spend half of my gm time having to stop my party stealing everything that isn't nailed down, then stealing the nails then stealing the things that were nailed down.

I think it's because Aragorn finally accepts his fate as the future King of Gondor and is proud to wear their emblem, both as its heir and out of respect for Boromir.

I'm not sure if he does in the books...but I always saw it as Aragorn 'taking up the gauntlet' quite literally of Boromir.

Boromir says 'Do not let the white city fall, nor our people fail' or words to that effect to Aragorn...who infact arrives and saves the White city!

Lets hunt some orc!

Battlefields have been looted throughout history: why should the taking of two vambraces be remarkable other than for the Numenorean symbols that adorn them? Aragorn had spent so much time as a Ranger, an anonymous guardian, or in disguise (as Thorongil), so why should be not openly take on the symbols of his heritage at some point in the endeavour to destroy Sauron's power for once and for all.
