What should have been in the movies

Wolves may attack humans only if they are straving, they also rarely attack sheeps... They are not so aggresive...

Every life must be respected, you cannot judge anything because it is not in your power

Actually there have been numerous documented cases where wolves, tigers and lions (as well as several other predators) will actively seek out human prey, usually because humans are actually easy prey. We're not particularly fast, we're not equipped with natural weapons and our hide is fairly easy to rip and tear. Sheep are almost as easy, so long as there are no sheperds or sheep dogs around to keep them at bay.

Ya, if they see a flock of sheep with no dog or human around, they'll eat their fill. If cornered, threatened or hungry, they're incredibly aggresive. Of course it's in our power. We are the only of God's creatures that were given the ability to judge.

I have read Tolkien's published diaries and really guys, the plot of Lord of the Rings changed umpteen times in development, so it is hardly surprising that some things were changed in the films. Yes, there were some cheesey bits, and some parts dragged where others went by too quickly or were chopped out or were rewritten. But there were moments of pure magic, times when the hairs on my neck rose because PJ & Company managed to conjure onscreen images that had been dancing around in my imagination for nearly 30 years.

I hope that the Hobbit is at least as good as LotR, and I also hope that an Extended-Extended-Gosh-It-Includes-Everything version of the first 3 films is released (all those missing scenes in and around Lothlorien just for starters).

My favourite part of the books is the ringwraiths searching for the hobbits in the shire. I think the film undersold it slightly by excluding Frodo overhearing the ringwraith speaking to someone and then staying with Farmer Maggot. Didn't create quite the same sense of suspense.

Also would've liked to see the Knights of Dol Amroth and the Grey Company but I can understand their omission because adding loads of new characters makes things more complicated for the casual viewer.

About the warg attack, PJ says he didn't just want to ignore the fact wargs even exist in middle-earth, since none were shown in the first movie, and the third movie doesn't allow for much important warg action either. He wanted to honour the books, which tell about warg attacks through out rohan, so it makes sense to me. I do hate the Aragorn dying scene however.

Also, I think Gimli's relatively few fight scenes in this battle seem only natural. He's a short dwarf, not used to cavalry battles, so I think he should be glad he survived in the first place. Let's not forget that, apart from being the heroes, Gimli, Legolas and Aragorn are nothing more than just your average dwarf, elf and man with some form of royal blood and a good training, not some ubergods.

You're wrong there. Dwarves and Elves were on a completely different level than humans, so Legolas and Gimli can only be expected to be leagues better than a human. Aragorn, as the Heir of Isildur had Elven and Numenorean blood in him, which placed him FAR above any other human alive. The only human who could come close to his level of skill in battle was Boromir. There's a reason that Legolas and Gimli killed over 40 each at Helms Deep while remaining nearly unscathed.

Totally agreed.

The trailer looks fairly promising too.

Hate do to this especially as someone who has little middle earth knoledge but i just had to correct the...Hyena's are related to wolves thing i read in this thread.

Hyenas are a family of their own, the Hyaenidae. They're more closely related to cats than dogs, but their closest relatives are the Herpestidae -- mongooses, meerkats and such

Basicly that bone crunching hyena would be ore at home at meercat manor then a pack of wolves.....extremely weird but true.

As for what i think should have been in the movies
The Scouring Of The Shire, hobbits got of to easy imo.

All mammals are related, though I know about hyena's as I have watched programmes on extinct mammals for years, I know my animals.

Right you are about the Scouring of the Shire. The film's ending is why Hobbits are so infuriating.
