:oops: You saw it. Now that I have uor right where I need you :twisted:

Anyway, since noone has even attempted to leash everyone and bring this back on topic I will say;

The Scouring of the Shire should've been in the fil to teach those infuriatingly annoying Hobbits a lesson.

Very surprised to see people still hung up on Tom 11yrs on. When you are making a film of a 1000 page book, the first things you cut are those things not essential to the story, and Tom simply did nothing to progress the story. It is often still attested that Tolkein only really started to know where he was going with the whole story in book two starting at the Council of Elrond and that book one was just a way for him to put down all this knowledge he had created on paper.

The Scouring of the Shire is an easy one; the story was told and once a story is told a film should end. I never personally saw why Tolkein wrote it into the books either. Maybe to give Saruman an end to his tale solely, but this could have been done many other ways.

Im glad Tom Bombadil wasnt in it, to me, he didnt progress the story. I was gutted that there was no Halbarad and his lot, and I would have liked to have seen Imrahil, but thinking on, what would they have done for the films? They would have made me happier though =]
