Backlog Reduction Oath Monthly Report: January

Miniatures Bought:
Yazneg (foot&mounted) = 3
Bard = 1
Tauriel = 1

Total Number of Miniatures/points bought: 4 Miniatures, 5 points

Miniatures painted:
Azog (foot) = 1
Azog (mounted) = 2
The Gobin King = 3
3 Dark Elf Black Arc Corsairs = 3
9 Goblins of Goblin Town = 9
Bofur = 1
Balin = 1
Dori = 1
Gandalf (EfGT) = 1
Yazneg (foot) = 1
Yazneg (mounted) = 2

Total Number of Miniatures/points painted: 21 Miniatures, 25 points

This month was a really good start. I painted mostly characters/heroes so my overall painting speed was a bit slower than usual. However, I also got to create new colour schemes to apply to next month's models :twisted:
February here I come. 9 Goblin Town goblins,the Goblin Scribe, Tauriel, Bard, Fili, Kili, Dwalin, Nori, Ori, Bifur, Oin and Gloin to go. Only to list my leftover LotR/Hobbit models. Purchases planned: None so far, however the price-reduced Ex-Bolg http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod1830024a is tempting :-D
February here I come ^^
Time to get my hands dirty with paint tonight.
Sincerely
Thorin

Well, I've finally started to get a handle on what I have left, what needs painting and how I should spend my often unpredictable painting time. I haven't painted anything in about a month and a half, but I had an excuse - needed new bulbs for my desk lamp, new paints, new undercoat. Having solved that, and having made a brief accounting of what miniatures are about, I offer...

Four Key Projects
The priority here is to ensure there are figures available for gaming.

Eriador
The Eriador list is an attempt to replace some of the stolen figures, which included a Rivendell and an Angmar army.

    Gildor’s Household - white clad Noldo Elves
    Hunter Orcs (not purchased yet)
    Rivendell Knights (not purchased yet)
    Mountain Orc warg riders

War of the Dwarves and Orcs
A quick and dirty pick up game list. All plastic, nothing fancy.
    40ish Goblin-town goblins
    12 Erebor dwarves
    24 “other” dwarves
    Heroes such a Thorin et al.

Gondor/Mordor
Time to finish my mostly complete, mostly plastic force.
    Two Minas Tirith warbands
    Men of Anfalas (two warbands?)
    One Orc warband.
    Corsair/Southron crew (36 miniatures)

Non Tolkien
    Drow warband
    Balor
    D&D Heroes

Diorama - Mithril Battle of the Five Armies
Twenty-ish Mithril figures including Bolg, Beorn, Gandalf et al.

That's a lot of figures, totted all up and should take about 8-9 months. When complete, I want to paint up a lot of plastic Rohirrim as allies to the Gondorians above, and see if I can field a 2000 point War of the Ring Gondor+allies army.

I shall not be intimidated. Well, not much. Well, a bit. Well...I am terrified :D

Well, I got zero points this month, but this was the most painting I have ever done in a month, so I would definitely call it a success for me. My collection is definitely still expanding and I am not ready to stop buying just yet.

Miniatures bought:
70 - all metals, all from ebay.

Miniatures painted:
24 plastics
9 metal warriors
4 metal heroes
Bill
Bert
Tom
Campfire

Really happy with how this month went, and the goal for next month will be to paint Radagast, the Goblin King, and all the Goblin warriors. I am stoked!

I wouldn't count Mirkwood spiders as plain Infantry. Probably 2 points each, they're about cavalry-sized, aren't they?
Anyway, look ike we're all making some sort of progress!

Had a poor start to February today, picked up 27 new Harad/ Corsairs models at a show. Great price though, but now I've got a job on to catch up! Details on my blog. (Incidentally, if anyone knows how to make the URL in my sig work please PM me).

Yesterday was my roommate's birthday, so we went out with some of the lads and celebrated a tad too vigorously. Today I had a day off to myself where I had few distractions and nothing to do. Dug out all of my Fellowship High Elves to add to the ones I bought last month. I had a bunch of them that have been undercoated for probably 5 years, so I painted them today. 21 plastic High Elves, a converted Captain, Elrond and Ambush at Amon Hen Legolas are all done now. This month is moving ahead nicely!

Very impressive, that must be about 3 to 4 a day! Thought I was doing well with 30

Does it count if I don't buy any and manage to get a handful done this year ? It is, technically a reduction.
