My pseudo-random run through War in Rohan continues with Ambush at Night. Can the Riders of Rohan quash the Orcs and Uruk-hai, enabling Merry and Pippin to escape into Fangorn? Drop by if you'd like to find out.

A shame, I really liked this scenario in the BGIME magazine, which only had Ugluk and Grishnakh as Evil heroes (and no Rohan captain). Being out-mighted while your strength is in cavalry really does seem a problem (though I already had that problem in my playthrough with fewer Evil heroes).

Anyway, nice report, I love the campfire and general feel of the terrain.

It seems that the evil side has too many heroes for such a small scenario. Have to sell the models though (Being cynical today)

Enjoyed your report as usual, need to go back and compare the different takes on the scenario.

Thanks, guys.

I'm sure selling models is part of the plan, Mapper. And there's nothing inherently wrong with it. But it does result in some weirdnesses, like Snaga having three Might points (more than Uglúk!) because he came out later and GW needs to convince folks with Isengard armies that he's worth picking up, too.

Uglúk does have three Might points though? But yeah I do think a smaller character like Snaga should have two Might points.

Oops, you're right. Snaga's only [i]equal[i] in Attacks and Might to Uglúk. Still doesn't seem to match either the movies or the books. Does make him more attractive to army builders, I guess.

Great looking model.

I'd have to agree with your take that basically exactly opposite of what happened in the movie took place in this playthrough. That is a bit of a bummer as this is a scenario that should be really fun and they've released many versions of it. I can see it being a bit difficult to balance but it seems as if they've actually unbalanced it by adding so many new orc heroes to it. Regardless, this was another great battle report!
