I've ever-so-slowly been going through the A Shadow in the East scenarios, and I finally got to Turning the Tide. Full battle report here: http://davetownsend.org/Battles/LotR-20170123/.

Hurray! I enjoy the crunchier style of your reports with commentary on the how well the special rules actually work.

Really nice battle report. How easy was the terrain to build, as I have been thinking to run through these scenarios as well?

I read through them all and enjoyed them. Good job on getting the kids hooked. I taught my niece and step-nephew to play chess and I don't even have to pretend to lose anymore...

Thanks for the kind words, gang.

Spike117, I didn't find any of the terrain particularly difficult, it's just that there's a lot of it. I had the trees and rivers done years ago, so they weren't an issue, and I built the fort as part of the previous scenario in the book (Gathering Information). So all I had to do was build the boat (straight from the old blue LotR rules), the tents (from the guide in SitE), and the watchtowers (likewise).

I really should have continued working on the watchtowers -- if you look closely you can see that I left off the string/rope ties, and I didn't bother constructing bases. I think they look fine as they are, but they'd be that much better with that much extra effort. But after doing all those tents I just didn't have the energy.

There was also the issue of painting up all the miniatures. I cheated on the insignia on the Khandish flags....but that's the subject of an article for another day.
