hi people, I have a good range of the colour Green but I have already some very green Goblins and I want to try something different with my Mordor Orcs to make them look different from the Goblin ones. What colours do you suggest for orc skin other than green?

Some people go for a vibrant reddy pink which can look good.

When it comes to orc skin there is no right or wrong. just pick any 2 colours mix them and apply the paint - see what you come up with.

Hi there. Here are a few suggestions for you to perhaps try that I have used in the past for some Morannon Orcs. I'll use the names of the new paints but these are just the matches of what I actually used a couple of years ago.
I think this is what I used:

I had 3 main options apart from green, each shaded and highlighted appropriately.
The first was based around Doombull Brown.
The second was based around Steel Legion Drab.
The third was based around Skrag Brown.

However as has been said, basically anything goes. You can essentially take any colour and if you need to, just make it more earthy by mixing in a grey or a light brown.

Also one or two of the new paints like Gorthor Brown might work quite nicely as a natural looking tone for Orc skin.

Hope this helps :)

There really isn't a wrong colour. It's not like someone can reference 'real' orcs and pull you up on it. Go for something that looks good!

Personally I avoid greens, except for very pale greens. Mostly because I tire of green orcs. Most of mine are shades of brown or grey, with some hints of colour here and there - a pale blue or green.

Generally, the darker the skin, the tougher. The Mordor Uruk Hai have jet black skin, and the Isengard Uruks are a very, very dark brown. But as Azog shows, there are the occasional exceptions to even this 'rule'.

Perhaps different colours depending on region, much like the Human race? Misty mountains goblins varying from a troglodyte white to a greenish hue, Mordor Orcs being browns and greys, uruks being black, morannon orcs having a more human-y skintone... If you want more variety than that, you could do tattoos, warpaints, etc. I've seen Hunter Orcs looking very nice with tribal style warpaint.

I like painting a wide-range of colors for Orcs, makes them more fun. Some a brown-red like Uruk-Hai. Some green like Moria Goblins, some pale like Goblin Town, and some a pale brown. I've even seen blue skinned orcs executed quite well on this site

This has been a bit of an issue for me so my orcs have been sitting around for quite a while.

For goblins I used the very old "camo green", almost an olive colour.
For uruk hai its a mix of red (VMC) and Flat brown (VMC).

So for mordor I wanted something slightly different and actually went orange and brown. Orange is a bit of an unusual colour but once you mix it in you get a sickly brown colour which is spot on to some of the orcs in the films. If you want a paler colour, just add bleached bone or white to this mix and your are set.

It is fun to experiment on the poor guys. I got two painted and I think I'm going to give them all different skins and cloth schemes which is fun.
