Well having read the first two parts I thought it about time I commented on this one. Awesome work you make it look so simple but I bet in reality it isn't at all. I will certainly have a go at one of these projects myself one day.

Very nice terrain, I love the little details-like the decoration- just gives it that something extra. Very inspirational, thank you!

I really like how you incorporated that brass scrolled piece into the the base...nice touch! :D

How sturdy is Styrodur?

These models are such a wonderful example of how to make effective terrain pieces that truly set the scene for your battles.

Wargames terrain has two main purposes - it adds tactical options to a game by affecting movement, line of sight and concealment; and secondly, it sets the 'context' of the battlefield.

The first purpose can be achieved by anything - books, coffee cups, cardboard boxes placed on a tabletop will achieve exactly the same result as a finely crafted model building or hillside.

But the second purpose can only be achieved if the terrain piece really fits into the world you're trying to represent. When I make a LOTR terrain piece, I try very hard to ensure that it is easily recognisable as being a part of Middle-earth - if I'm battling in Gondor, I want to see white stone buildings and finely crafted statues (albeit smashed to bits in most instances), arched colonades and lots of steps.

Ninjameister has achieved this superbly. To copy an existing structure from the movies is one thing, but to come up with your own designs that fit perfectly well with the movie imagery is quite another thing altogether.

A great article Ninjameister, well done! I especially like the fine detail you added to the stonework - a great touch and simple to achieve.

And thanks to Potenza for translating this into English - a big job in itself.

Amazing. You made my jaw drop. :yay: Such a detailed, well-explained, step-by-step manual to constructing Osgiliath, followed by the absolutely wonderful pictures... Well done! I will surely use this manual myself some day, as I develop my quite-poor terrain making skills.
