I keep saying it, but i'm just over the moon that the support is being regenerated for our hobby with the continued stream of new models, keep em coming! :)

I'm a huge fan of the 4 that we've seen thus far. I was never planning on playing a Dark Powers of Dol Guldur list, but these have changed my mind.

I love 'em ; they actually look suitably menacing and evil without flamboyant poses. Well done GW!

Yeah I think they look pretty good. Not very dynamic but will look good in a display cabinet.

When I saw them previewed on the GW page I had hopes they would be for sale through GW :-( They will look good on WETA's 1:30 Dol Guldur diorama set I have but will really have a hard time justifying the price.

$15 a pop is a bit pricey, but I’ll be collecting them none the less.

Do you have a pic of the 1:30 Dol Guldur piece? EDIT: oooofound em! Nice!

I think expecting any new model releases to be via GW is a pipe dream at this stage seeing as how Middle-earth production has shifted to the specialist games department in Forgeworld.
Still, my attitude to it all is expensive minis are better than no minis at all which is where we were 2 years ago. :)

The Dol Guldur Nazgul look neat - I think the Dark Headsman is the best of the 3 sculpts.

You may be right there, but the shift in production & costs could also be attributed to the length of time the movies have been around. When they were all fresh in people's minds then sales of the miniatures would be higher, while keeping production costs bearable.

That is not the case now ; their sales are based on a smaller, but dedicated customer base such as the forum members here and ultimately smaller sales means higher pricing to keep the line in production. They aren't going to go back to the cheaper metal / plastic options (at least for now) so we just have to live with it.

I keep harping on this point , but like it or not GW is a business and their number one aim is to make money. It really doesn't matter how much we all might be happy (or not) with the pricing, or support or complain about this it isn't going to change drastically any time soon.

They have made moves to reward us in offering GW models in warbands that are overall cheaper than the blisters, but while this may seem a small offer it should still be taken as a sign that they do listen to us and where possible they will show their appreciation in this way. Like it or not, the fact is FW do produce some beautiful models for this line but the price tag is sometimes unfortunately hard to stomach, but given the choice between the line dying out and having to use proxies or putting up with the price tag I would have to choose the latter.

Personally, I have faith that in time the pricing may become more reasonable given time and good sales. They have renewed their liscence and are continuing to support a line that has been in production for almost 18 years without being take oop at any time. Warhammer & 40k are the only other properties of GW & FW that can lay claim to this longevity and to be honest, the models FW have produced so far are stunning. I can't wait to see what is in the pipeline :)

I think the Dark Headsman might be one of my favourite Hobbit or even Middle-earth models, I especially like the chainmail.

New Nazgul models look great, can't wait to get my hands on these!

at the risk of repeating myself, I am really impressed with these 3 ; they would look great as either well-painted collectors models or suitably creepy-looking on the tabletop ; couldn't agree with you more.

When you think about it, they are actually pretty affordable. 3 Warband leaders for a decent number of points. $15 a model is not too bad.

The one thing i've really loved abut the FW models is the level of detail and the 'hard' resin they use for their models. I really cannot praise them enough. Thranduil on the elk is probably one of their most beautiful ever.

I wasn't a huge fan of them at first, but looking at them again, they are quite nice. I think what threw me off was the fact that I'm not a big fan of monochromatic color schemes. The sculpts look great though 8)

exactly! the right balance of detail & menace. It shows that models don't always need cloaks billowing swords raised to be effective. Hell, if anyone feels rich enough, you could get two sets and use one as some creepy-looking mordor statues ;)

They appear to be taller than human size, do they not? It is a normal 25 mm base though?

Haven't the Ringwraiths always been fairly big, imposing models? They should certainly be on the usual 25mm.
