Wow, I love so many of these new miniatures! I really like the Command Sets, though I agree the Morannon Captain looks slightly odd. The new Theoden model looks really good- a lot of detail. Both the Ent and new Elves have grown on me, I think the elite blue and white robed spear elves look fantastic! I'm not overly keen on either the Dwarf guy or the Hasharin though and I hope the Sons of Eorl aren't just some random guys GW have just totally made up. The AOTD looks cool and so does their banner bearer. The Easterling guy looks pretty intimidating and the WK doesn't look too bad. I quite like how the Citadel Guard now look more like sentries - what they actually are. There's also a lot of detail on the new Grey Company dudes, but I don't quite yet understand why we needed them. I know some of you guys don't like the new Halbarad model ( I personally don't mind it), but GW haven't taken the other Halbarad (with Arathorn) off their website, so we might still be able to get that one! The new Gandalf - well we all know where GW got their idea for that one don't we?!

All in all - good job GW! :yay:

No one's heard/seen anything about the new Mordor Uruk-hai yet?

There are some good models in this lot and I like most of them, but I had to laugh at the Rohirrim standard bearer - he's wielding a sword as well as holding the banner. I wonder how he got it out of his scabbard while holding a massive flag that is flapping in the wind.

Overall, this is something of a return to form for GW - there are a few duds, but that's always been the case for as long as I have been collecting.

Second wave in April DOES NOT include Elves.

It DOES include, Citadel Guard 2, Mordor Uruk-hai 2, Witch-King, Theoden, Gandalf.

Full list is included in the thread I made about the WotR info in the latest White Dwarf.

I think the Sons of Eorl is just a mounted blister (one model).
That's what it looks like on the GW website. :)

The write-up on the GW website state 2 models on 25mm bases.

Which is obviously wrong.

I can't really see 2 metal cav models being £7, but if they don't include a foot version, then perhaps it is correct.

My money is on one mounted miniature per £7 blister.

maybe the second model is the horse.. heh... :?
But a 25mm base?

Unless they come up with new bigger blister I don't see them putting in two mounted figs in this...

Wouldn't surprise me it they came on foot and mounted afterall...

Quote:
Games Workshop said: Sons Of EorlThe Sons of Eorl are an elite cadre of Rohan Royal Knights, founded in the days of the first King of Rohan, Eorl the Young. They are Rohan's foremost protectors, charged with the defence of the king and of the Golden Hall of Meduseld. No mightier warriors can there be found in all the lands of Rohan, for only the boldest knight can earn a place in the Sons of Eorl.

This blister contains two metal models. Models supplied with 25mm round bases.

yep, thats what I think.

Also, the elves are being released in June (just to clear that up).

I need one more blister of mordor uruks - so the new blister looks like a must to add variation - hoping that they are good sculpts that it.

I converted a few plastic Isengard Scout Uruks into Mordor Uruk-hai. They still look a fair bit like the Scouts, but are definitely passable.

High elves come even later in the year I believe.

Ohhhhh well now that i see the new WK is on horese, its no where near as bad as I thought. I thought he was just super buff and the horses head was some sort of uber shoulder pad and the rest of the horse was his incredibly large robe.

Only decent minis from this set are the UH, Gandalf and Theoden.

I mean come on, yet another W-K?? Ant what's up with his sword neither steel nor flames, and Hasharin?? That must be a joke, it looks like Mithril minis from 20 years ago.

The Witch-king on the horse is closer to the book version than the film. From The Thains book:
Quote:
The Witch-king rode through the Gate which no enemy of Gondor had ever passed through before. All fled before him except Gandalf who denied the Witch-king entrance to the City.
The Black Rider flung back his hood, and behold! he had a kingly crown; and yet upon no head visible was it set. The red fires shone between it and the mantled shoulders vast and dark. From a mouth unseen there came a deadly laughter.
"Old fool!" he said. "Old fool! This is my hour. Do you not know Death when you see it? Die now and curse in vain!" And with that he lifted high his sword and flames ran down the blade.
The Return of the King: "The Siege of Gondor," p. 103
