I really dislike the new Ents due to their lack of detail. Its a shame they didn't introduce the Ents seen in the film as many small independent companies have done.

The Ents I am sad to say are terrible, an opportunity missed IMO.

My opinion and some information;

I do not like the Elves. Their bows look to long.
Also I think the metal Galadrim look better but these are cheaper.
The horse doesn't really fit to the rider I think and the armour is not wonderful, but making/sculpting cavalry models is really hard.

The Army of the Dead looks nice. As I heard, spears are available
and one sprue of them contains ten complete different models.

The Ents are maybe not real trees, but as you see there are options and with a little converting you still have a nice plastic Ent.

Amdur looks a bit like a Sauron for the Easterlings.
But that is not really a problem, such a rare force may have a great leader. And the model I really like is Druzhag.

Ok Im Thrilled the Lord of Blades looks very cool and the Goblin Grandpha  is also nice but hte Dead they look astonicing when comparing them to the metal ones... theyll make a fine addition

These plastic elves don't look so bad when pu together with the metal ones... Well I think that theyll fit in with correct paint job...

can't wait for Gandalf and Witchking... :D 8)

Sooo thee Dead are going to get spears? :D :D :D :D Yeeeš no more Rangers of Arnor supporting my dead Warriors YESSSSSSSSS :D

Most of the models look great for me. AoTD in particular.

The exceptions are:
- Elven Mage: a turn off for me, he doesn't have to be a shaman as elves has a different kind of magic. May be something dereived from Galadriel's war aspect would be better.
- The Elven horseman could be better
- Amdur: nice, but couldn't they pick a better pose? :-X

Ents are good enough for me if they are as cheap as possible, the rohan pic is not working for me, and I'll be very disappointed if Druzhag has no magic powers with this staff and all those bats circling around him.

Actually, I find the longer bows more accurate to the films, and more elvish. I really like the long bows - but as one would expect, the metals still have a greater level of detail.

Traditionally, the English Longbow was about 6ft in length...

AotD and spears - now, are spears available as an army list option or a modelling option? Because there are already AotD with spears, not that it affects the rules any...

Spears make sod all difference in WotR. Models with Spears are assumed to fight in Spear wall formation, while models with hand weapons are assumed to have some competance in the traditional Maniple formations, so can fight with similar effectiveness. Now Pikes....Pikes are awesome vs Cavalry....

John, The spears are there purely for variation and modelling purposes, they don't have any gaming effects and they have the same wargear as they always have had (hand weapons only).

When I saw the book yesterday, I was a bit disappointed in the Sons of Eorl. I'm sure I'll get a few (2-6) for my Rohan armies. However, there is something about them I don't love. Maybe its the lack of helmets.

The models are equipped with spears, but the AotD being counted as having hand weapon only remains the same.

:-D

daim whats the point in posting this if they already have got the spears???

Ehh I wish they would get the spears so I wouldn't have to support them with WoMTs or RoA, cause its very lame and un themed...
