Those Rohan soldiers look very nice! It seems though that this is getting like fantasy with the musician, captain + standard bearer. I do like the idea of the musician guy though, lets hope they introduce rules for musicians (if they haven't already, since I've been gone.)

they had better have rules for them in strategy battle game too.

preferably not the same as the mordor orc drummer, that would be stupid.

How does that work? Would be nice if they had rules for musicians, that offered bonuses on par with standard bearers.

In the SBG, the Orc Drummer allows certain models to move faster.

In the WotR, musicians allow nearby companies to move faster.

As Musicians, they do not allow re-rolling of dice to win fights.

Someone asked if the new ents are all the same, well, they are how you make them! the new ents are a multi part plastic kit with differant arms and fases, also I hear you get some dead orcs in there too! Hope that helps 8) (they look ok in the flesh, or bark lol)

I'm looking forward to WotR, but I already have a large collection, so its not difficult for me to make an army on a large scale.

People who are new to it however could find it very hard to amass the numbers required (let alone paint them!)

Hmm, now that I see them...Grey Company models are a dissapointment, but all the rest is still cool.
Also, the ent looks alot better in real life.^^

I love the orc the rohan commander is holding - trying to clasp the Commandersneck, whilst he is being strangled. Very nice detail there.

The tree on halbarad's flag is positively terrible. I hope it's the painter and not the sculptor who made a balls of that! :o

The leftmost GC Ranger is very nice, the others are average. The stars on the MT commander look terrible, the other minis are fine except for for the the tree on the MT banner (Not as bad as Halbarad's though) and of course that rolled up paper thingy they call an Ent.

I can't say I hate anything here! The stars on the Minas Tirith Captain do look out of place, but they could easily be filed off, no?

The Ent looks decent when it's painted silvery-grey. At this point I'm just hoping they don't make it the same price as the metal one like they did with the plastic Troll and Balrog! Like seriously, what's the point then?!

hmmm... they're nice models are alright. Still, I can't see a WoMT blowing a horn, its fine with Rohan because they're more rustic and generally less shiny but the Warriors of Minas Tirith should really have a silver trumpet (though a conversion should not be difficult). And it seems GW still can't make their minds up about Rangers of the North, they've already got models for Rangers and Dunedain (thouroughly misleading since the Dunedain of the North make up the rangers, apart from their womenfolk, and so here are exactly the same, and their are also plenty of other pure-blooded Dunedain elsewhere, like Gondor). Now they've made the "Grey Company" which are just the same thing again and a new Halbarad (third time, though at least this one has Arwen's banner). :?

The name "Son's of Eorl" is highly inappropriate if they are a generic Rohirrim troop type who rode with Eorl into Gondor, as he was only 20 (or thereabouts, perhaps youger, as it says in Unfinished Tales) and his troops certainly would not have seen him as a father. If they represent Eorl's actual children or a regiment founded well into his kingship of Calenardhon (Rohan) then the great model speaks for itself. 8)

But having said all that they are almost all really good models with a lot of fine sculpting - they are not at all WHish which is what I feared and although I am foremost a scenario gamer and don't intend to play War of the Ring, I fully expect to buy a few command sets for ordinary games. :-D

Don't get me wrong, some of the minis are very nice, but overall GW's standard ain't as good as the 2002-04 era. They seem rushed or something...
