Well, Role Playing Games are all about telling stories. You set the scene with your adventure but it's the players that actually tell the story itself, with they way they react to the situations you present to them. I would suggest you read through the rulebooks (and Pathfinder is an excellent syste...

Great story Xintao, thanks for sharing. I wonder if others here have a tale to tell about their D&D origins.

Please share.

(Oh and I edited the title to make it more appropriate for a discussion topic)

I bought the EE as my Christmas present from my wife, so she has hidden it and told me to forget I ever saw it. Ho hum.

I just want to get into the bonus features and start making Laketown.

Coming late to this party, sorry. Through the government-sanctioned segregation of the time, African Americans were relegated to non-combat roles, such as driving trucks and clearing minefields. But of course they were sometimes caught up in the fighting as things moved rapidly and they came close t...

I started playing tabletop games when I was a young kid - boardgames like Monopoly and Buccaneer, Spy Ring, Risk, Cluedo ("Clue" for the Americans) and a host of others. Each Christmas, me, my brother and my sisters would eagerly sneak a peek at the pile of presents under the tree looking ...

I agree Dave. The game's origins show through quite clearly and I've not bothered with it since. In fact, when I first played it I started calling it "1940K"

I'll stick with Disposable Heroes for my WWII skirmish games.

Hi Corine, welcome to the One Ring.

Your painting skills will improve with practice, never be afraid to experiment. And there are many people here who will happily share their knowledge with you. All you have to do is ask.

Hi everyone, I have asked Dead Marsh Spectre, UKFreddyBear and Azog to step up to the ranks of Admin while I am preoccupied with my father's cancer. I haven't heard from Azog yet, but Kev and Dave have both agreed to this and I want to thank them for giving the site the guidance and energy that it n...

Hmm, having issues with network access this weekend. My internet connection has decided to go extremely slow yesterday and today and so I have delayed doing the upgrade until things improve. I'll get onto my ISP today and see if they can resolve the issue.

Probably do it next weekend then.

Hi folks, I need to do some maintenance on the site soon and that means turning it off for a couple of hours while it's in progress. I'm going to upgrade the forum software to the latest version and fix a couple of minor issues. I am planning on doing it on the 9th of August, around midday GMT. At m...

Thanks Greg, It was a very busy day, with loads of games being played, models on display and even some Daleks trundling around (funniest moment of the day was when the Dalek came face to face with the X-Wing game). It's been consuming my every waking moment since about March so I'm glad it's over to...

Welcome to the One Ring!

Good luck getting a gaming group together. It's a great system and deserves more attention from the wargaming public. Hopefully others in your area will see it that way too if you show them.

My interests lie primarily in other gaming systems these days, but there is always a LOTR figure on my painting table trying to attract my attention. I'm gradually working my way through my LOTR backlog and many figures are actually starting to get used in games these days (just not LOTR SBG). I use...
