| That was a fun contest. I probably got some stuff wrong (like the building), but it was highly enjoyable wracking my brain for knowledge. |

Thank you all for entering. I hope you enjoyed it but the competition is now closed. No more entries will be accepted.
We had around 40 entries, so overall I think it was very successful. There were several people who got all ten correct, but there can be only one winner I'm afraid.
Quiz Answers
- The drawing is a representation of Amon Sul (or Weathertop) before it was destroyed. And thanks to all those that said "cool drawing!"
- Merry had 0 Might Points
- There are 13 individual poses, but 14 would be accepted as well since the Invisible Frodo model is a duplicate of the Osgiliath one, yet was released separately:
- Fellowship boxed set
- Fog on the Barrow Downs boxed set
- Attack at Weathertop boxed set
- Arwen and Frodo mounted blister
- Mines of Moria game set (plastic)
- Breaking of the Fellowship boxed set
- Emyn Muil blister
- Captured by Gondor boxed set
- Fell Beast boxed set (Osgiliath)
- Shelob's Lair boxed set
- In Orc armour blister
- At Mt Doom blister
- Scouring of the Shire boxed set
- Invisible Frodo
(I've decided to start an army of Frodos)
- Any three of "The Bridge Inn", "The Ivy Bush", "The Green Dragon", "The Golden Perch", and "The Floating Log"
Note: "The Prancing Pony" was actually in Bree, which lies outside of the Shire.
- Glorfindel of Imladris made the prophesy.
- Rick Priestley designed the original ruleset (and it was playtested by the Perry Twins too). Alessio joined the team later.
- Silverscott (Gordon Bain) was the founding member and original Admin of the site (bless him!), way back in 2002-2003 (before TLA even).
- Gandalf was deemed to be the greatest of the Istari by Cirdan, and to help him in his travels, he gave him Narya the ring of fire (and wasn't Saruman annoyed!)
- Fatty Bolger and his band of merry hobbits hid in the Brokenbores (which means "badger tunnels") - a series of caves in the hills above Scary. We also accepted the alternate spelling Brockenborings.
- Shelob's Lair is known as Torech Ungol - which translates to Spider's Hole or Spider's Lair. But the wording of the question was a little confusing (since I mentioned a "pass") and so Cirith Ungol (The Pass of the Spider) was also accepted.
My favourite answer to question 9 (where did Fatty hide) was "Dunno, in the Cadbury Factory?" - bonus points for that one Glenn!

Oh, and the winner is (selected randomly from amongst the highest scoring entries)...

Congratulations Andy, you are now the proud owner of a Gimli on Dead Uruk-hai blister pack. Contact me by PM to arrange postage please.
I hope you all had fun and were challenged a little by these questions. We'll do it again in the future, but in the meantime get painting ... the next One Ring Awards is opening up soon! _________________ Dagorlad

though having not participated I enjoyed the very good questions (and answers ... )
and: LOL: a Frodo army! tabletoppers will look puzzled if you suddenly appeared with 300 Frodos at the tournament. |

congratulations to the winner! well done, andy!
dagorlad, is the cool drawing an "invention"? well as it is about a fanatasy building it would be in any case but what i mean is, is it an official invention (by tolkien or the movie guys) or something you did? (i expect to see a new wave of weathertop projects now covering the in-tact and not the ruined version ) |

Congrats to Andy!
Weathertop! I just gave myself a mighty slap on the forehead for not realising it. Cool drawing.

@Lighning2911 - the drawing is one of mine. It is actually designed using the layout of the ruins of Amon Sul - the placement of the arches, buttresses and staircases were all examined from an archeological point of view, and the reconstruction was deduced from the evidence of the remaining stonework.
The two staircases indicated the presence of an upper gallery and the remains of a vaulted ceiling indicates that the roof was enclosed and covered with a dome. The buttresses were increased in height to support the weight of the upper storeys.
The only real speculative addition to the drawing was the statues on the tops of each buttress, but they were added to give you a clue as to what the building was supposed to be. _________________ Dagorlad

@Andy, congratulations! I will post the package tomorrow, but postage from Australia takes about a week, so don't bother rushing to your mailbox for the next couple of days.
The drawing was actually intended as a study for building the undemolished structure. I have some vague plans about making a model of it, but no doubt it will be put on the back burner while my other 2,792 project ideas get under way. _________________ Dagorlad

Congratulations Andy! Well done.
And thank you OR Team for another fun event (and educational as well!)
And yes, that is a cool drawing of Amon Sűl, I can't believe I got that one right!

Wow, that looked like fun, but I didn't see the quiz until too late
I love the picture of Weathertop, it's really good.
I wouldn't have thought that there were so many Frodo's - I would have said there were about 7 or 8
Maybe one day if there's another quiz I'll enter... |
